One of the difficulties with the identification and diagnosis of coeliac disease is that it does not have a characteristic set of defined symptoms.
People with coeliac disease may exhibit no symptoms at all or may show a wide variety of symptoms including the following:
- Bloating, flatulence and wind
- Joint swelling
- Nutrient deficiencies, including osteoporosis
- Fluctuations in weight, including difficulty in gaining or losing weight
- Mood issues, including irritability or depression
